2021 TRON Symposium -TRONSHOW- Reports

Outline Exhibitors Sessions TEPS
Introduction of 2O21 TRON Symposium

TRON Project is a comprehensive project based on the philosophy of “Open Architecture.” “Open” approach has been expanding in many fields including embedded systems, “Open data” that makes available the data owned by the government, local governments, public transportation operators, etc. and utilizes them, and ”Open API” that enhances “the Internet of Things (IoT)” to create convenient services that span the boundaries of manufacturers and service providers.

The symposium will introduce elemental technologies that realize “Open API,” and their application examples, and examples of the collaboration with many other projects. This year again, with the technical sponsorship of IEEE Consumer Technology Society, a paper session is held to present papers on the latest research of the IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), open data and embedded systems.

OPEN IoT Systems
Embedded systems and cloud systems to realize the IoT are exhibited. Real-time OS (RTOS) (μT-Kernel, etc. ), middleware and development environment required for embedded systems, application examples, etc. are showcased. Furthermore, sensor nodes and network control systems, big data analysis support tools, open data support tools, terminal devices, solutions to realize OPEN IoT, their usage examples including business applications, etc. are introduced.
Development Environment for IoT Edge Nodes.
“μT-Kernel 3.0” is a real-time OS specification which is fully compliant with “IEEE 2050-2018,” the international standard OS specification for IoT edge nodes adopted by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The detailed specification of µT-Kernel 3.0, the road map of TRON Forum's RTOS, and products that incorporate µT-Kernel 3.0 are introduced. μT-Kernel is an RTOS best suited to IoT edge nodes. "IoT-Aggregator" that has been under development to realize service collaboration and advanced access control in Open IoT environment, and new "IoT-Engines" equipped with multi-core microprocessor now are also on display.
Overseas / Government / Local Government Pavilion
Activities of government such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in Japan and overseas activities in cooperation with TRON Project are introduced.
Open Data of Public Transportation
Association for Open Data of Public Transportation chaired by Ken Sakamura creates advanced next-generation public transportation services to promote open data of transportation information in cooperation with public transportation operators and ICT stakeholders. It also conducts R&D on a standard platform for the services and proposes recommendation on public transportation policy. This pavilion exhibits use cases that take full advantage of public transportation open data in the "New Normal" age, such as application examples of the data provided by Public Transportation Open Data Center. It also reports the final awards selection result of the 4th Open Data Challenge for Public Transportation in Tokyo which closed its entry period in October 2021.
